I am mommy-blogging today. I like playing with food. This Whatever Wednesday post is inspired by an old journal entry of mine from April 14, 2007 (Max was 2):
We made “play dough” cookies the other day—brightly colored cookie dough to sculpt before baking. Max ate the electric blue car we made last night.
This morning we’re sitting on the pot for practice.
“Hooo-wee!” he says. I smell it too.
“Did you poo?”
“Yes.”
He gets off the potty and looks down.
“FROGGY!” he says.
The turd is bright green. It’s turned his pee neon green too.
On that off-color note… Play-dough cookies! Another fabulous way to play with food—although I make a conscious effort not to dwell on how the final cookie has been rolled and squished by grubby kid paws over and over before it gets baked into its final form. We googled “playdough cookies” and found a recipe on Home… Is Where the Cookies Are (although I think we did forget to add the baking powder). Here’s the link to the recipe. And here are some pics from a recent cookie sculpting session seven years after my journal entry.
My sweet tooth said yum.

This sounds like fun however my greatest fear is play dough later on gets mistaken for the cookie dough and eaten by them or on a bad day us lol
Hahaha–yeah and the SCENTED play-doh probably doesn’t help matters any.
Ha! Yes – the grubby hands seem to be an issue for many people! Looks like you guys had fun! Thanks for the mention! 😉
Thanks for the recipe! Made for a nice Saturday afternoon.
My granddaughter adores play-dough. I have it in my carpet…on my floor….etc. Happy 2015 to you!
Teresa
